M.I.A. – ‘Come Walk with Me’ off “Matangi”

I kind of lost all the respect I had for M.I.A. a couple of weeks ago when she unleashed the news that she’s been collaborating with the women hater Julian Assange for his sorry excuse for a TV-show. Assange is under the investigation of two accounts of sexual assault/rape over here in Sweden and no, you simply don’t work with men like that until he’s been found not guilty. But then, on the other hand, it’s not M.I.A.’s fault that even great men like Assange turns out to be rotten eggs too.

Anyway politics aside, a couple of hours ago M.I.A. unleashed a teaser off a new song called ‘Come Walk with Me’ and dropped the news that her upcoming album would be named “Matangi”. Have a listen to the 1:46-long clip below:

Wiley links up with Ms. D (Dayo Olatunji, the singer who joined Chipmunk on ‘Oopsy Daisy’ back in 2009) for the summer smash ‘Heatwave’ produced by 24 year old producer/songwriter Rymez. Rymez is currently working with artists including Wretch 32, Kyra, and Preeya Kalidas and is recording his debut EP and he has previously worked with Wiley on a number of releases, including the Scorcher & Wiley track ‘Terms of Agreement’ in 2010.

As I’ve previously posted DJ Fresh has teamed up with Dizzee Rascal for another possible chart topper in with his new single ‘The Power’, set to drop on Ministry of Sound the 3rd of June. The single comes with an extended instrumental and mixes from Datsik, Andy C, East and Young and more and this is the official video, shot in Miami during the Winter Music conference 2012 and directed by Rohan Blair-Mangat:

Archeo – ‘Glass Half Empty’ Single Release & Remix ft. Scorcher Premiere

Say hello the official world premiere of one of the remixes of 21-year-old London based singer, songwriter, producer Archeo’s helium-voiced single ‘Glass Half Empty’ before it goes live to the rest of the world. The single is a homage to Archeo’s vast array of influences and to the mash-up culture we live in today, where he says he feels obliged to mix it up and describes it himself as an ”intergalactic-future-funk-crunk record”.

‘Glass Half Empty’ is set to drop on 7th May through Archeo’s own label Music Mantra, serves as the follow up to his debut single ‘Mr. General’ and comes with remixes by Arveene & MiSK as well as this one featuring Scorcher who adds a more of a urban touch to the track.

To be honest there’s so far only two valid song on the topic of Hoods made ’til this day; Lil Jon’s ‘Put Your Hood Up’ from 2001 and Lady Sovereign’s ‘Hoodie’ from 2005. But Sunday’s grime producer Teddy Music finally dropped his huge ‘Hoods Up’ which is like the perfect mix of them both as he actually samples the phrase from Lil Jon’s now 11 year old masterpiece as well as he enlists more or less the whole grime scene on the release, if you loved Mizz Beats remix of Sovie’s ‘Hoodie’, well you in for a real treat.

2012 will definitely be the year for Teddy, in January he dropped his “Grime (The Compliation)”-album (buy off iTunes & stream via Spotify), a 22-track big compilation of his featured productions, among them Tempa T’s ‘Spray Dem’ & ‘Doomed’ ft. Newham Generals to name a few and last week we saw the release of his instrumental project “Selectah Vol.1″.

The ‘Hoods Up’ single release (buy off Amazon or iTunes) includes the explicit and radio edit of both the original (ft. Ruff Sqwad, Ghetts, Roachee & Stutta) and the remix (ft. Mz Bratt will, as I’ve previously posted, drop her Naughty Boy-produced single ‘Falling Down’ featuring Khalaeliah on the 6th of May. The EP release of the track that was co-written by Emeli Sandé will include three massive remixes from T-Star ft. Krept & Konan, Shogun Audio and Donae’o, who’s remix is absolutely mental.
