After dropping their debut album “Tons of Friends” last year that had more of an mainstream appeal to it, Phra and Bot of the Crookers went back to their more original sound back in May with the release of their “Dr Gonzo” EP. In June the “The Gonzo Anthem” EP dropped and both releases lead up to the duos second full-length album called “Dr Gonzo” that lands today on Southern Fried Records.

Crooker’s debut featured so many familiar names it was almost ridiculous, the feature-list of “Dr Gonzo” isn’t that star studded, at least not for the common listener. Instead we find His Majesty André, Lazy Ants, Surkin, Wax Motif, Neoteric and more but the best part of the album is actually the features from so many Swedes. Or how about the Savage Skulls, Carli, Marcus Price, Style of Eye. However, I’m not gonna lie, I miss some female features, “Tons of Friends” had Rye Rye, Kelis and Yelle for instance and just cause you part ways with the mainstream it doesn’t have to be an all sausage fest.

The “Dr Gonzo” isn’t as good as the debut in my eyes, even though the ‘Dr Gonzo Anthem’ ft. Carli is one hell of an anthem and I absolutely love the addition of Macrus Price and Carli on ‘Gonzo C.A.M.P’:
Crookers – ‘Gonzo C.A.M.P’ ft. Marcus Price & Carli

and ‘Springer’ ft. Neoteric & Wax Motif:

The full album feels a bit monotone and static, even in the mix on a jam packed dance floor.
